Hear it from the team
A short story from an Insurnest team member on the work, the people and the pace.
Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytically sharp QA Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on experience in the BFSI domain. You will be an integral part of our Engineering & Quality team, ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical financial applications — including core banking platforms, insurance policy administration systems, claims management engines, and regulatory reporting modules.
Roles & Responsibilities
Test Strategy & Execution
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end scenarios across BFSI applications
- Own the full QA lifecycle — from requirement analysis and sprint planning to test closure and sign-off — in an Agile/Scrum delivery model
- Conduct API testing using tools like Postman and REST Assured to validate microservices, payment APIs, and third-party integrations (payment gateways, CIBIL, MCA21, IRDAI portals)
Automation Engineering
- Build and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Selenium / Playwright / Cypress for UI, and RestAssured / Karate for APIs
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) to support continuous testing and rapid release cycles
Domain-Specific QA
- Validate BFSI business logic: loan origination, credit scoring, KYC/AML workflows, premium calculation, claims adjudication, and policy lifecycle management
- Perform regulatory compliance testing for RBI, SEBI, IRDAI, and FATF guidelines including data masking, audit trails, and reconciliation reports
- Execute performance and load testing using JMeter / k6 / Gatling on high-throughput transaction systems handling 10,000+ concurrent users
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Developers to ensure testability of requirements and early defect detection via Shift-Left practices
- Manage defect tracking lifecycle in JIRA — log, triage, track, and validate fixes with root cause analysis and quality metrics reporting
- Produce test summary reports, risk dashboards, and quality scorecards for stakeholders and release governance teams
Required Skills
- 3+ years of strong QA/testing experience specifically within BFSI, FinTech, or InsurTech domains
- B.E. / B.Tech / MCA in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
- Strong proficiency in at least one automation framework: Selenium (Python), Playwright, or Cypress
- Hands-on API testing experience using Postman, SoapUI, or REST Assured
- Solid understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and DevOps quality gates
- Experience with SQL/database testing — writing complex queries to validate data integrity, transformations, and reconciliation
- Knowledge of financial domain concepts: NACH/UPI/NEFT payment rails, insurance premium calculation, core banking transactions, credit bureau integrations
Tools & Technologies
- Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, REST Assured
- JIRA / Zephyr, Jenkins / GH Actions, Postman, JMeter / k6
- SQL / Oracle, Git / Bitbucket, TestNG / JUnit, BDD / Cucumber
Good to Have
- Experience with AI/ML model testing — validating model outputs, bias detection, and explainability in credit risk or fraud detection models
- Familiarity with cloud-based testing environments (AWS Device Farm, BrowserStack, Sauce Labs)
- Exposure to security testing concepts — OWASP Top 10, VAPT coordination, PCI-DSS compliance validation
- Knowledge of RPA testing (UiPath / Automation Anywhere) used in insurance back-office automation
- ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Level certification is a strong plus
- Exposure to observability tools like Grafana, Kibana, or Datadog for monitoring test environments
What We Offer
- Growth & Learning — Dedicated L&D budget, ISTQB sponsorship, and access to AI/ML quality engineering upskilling programs
- Flexible Work — Hybrid-first culture with flexible hours, remote-friendly tooling, and no micromanagement
- Impactful Work — Test AI-driven products that power real financial decisions for users across India, UAE, and the US
- Competitive Package — Market-benchmarked CTC with performance bonus, health insurance, and ESOPs for top performers
